{Try} Make a Salad Garden

An easy way to bring a little county into your life is to start a garden.  This container garden has everything you need for a delicious and healthy meal. And the best part?  You can grow it in a small space like a porch or even a window ledge, which means our urban friends can enjoy this little bit of rural living right at home!

For my garden I collected an assortment of vintage tobacco tins and various galvanized buckets & watering cans from local flea markets and antique stores.  Prices ranged from $2.00 to $15.00 for my containers.  Then, with the help of my friends at Huron Ridge Acres, I selected an assortment of herbs, lettuces and some “Tiny Tim” tomatoes (which are small plants that  have a high yield of cherry-sized fruits).  I added a bit of fertilizer and water and after only a few short weeks I have enough produce to keep me in salads for the rest of the summer!

Carol Steckle - Hey, thanks so much for the link and the recognition. I’m glad to hear that it’s working out for you. the containers really add to the ambience of a salad garden on your deck!

Erin Roy - Thanks Carol! We always appreciate the great service and advice we get from Huron Ridge, you and your staff do amazing work.
