{Try} The Best Snow Tubing in Rural Ontario

Winter Fun for Everyone!
Snow tubing is a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors, have fun and burn off steam in the winter time. My family discovered snow tubing over the recent winter break and it struck me as the perfect activity for a group of people of varying ages to enjoy winter fun together. We loved latching on to each other’s tubes and stacking up our feet to make our tubes fly as fast as possible down the hill.

Next to the adrenaline, the best thing about tubing is that no experience, fancy equipment or skill is required. With warm winter clothing and a spirit of adventure you are guaranteed to have a great day outdoors that everyone in your group will enjoy. Here are five great places to try this winter:

Snow Valley Ski Resort, Midhurst – Just outside of Barrie, Snow Valley has some of the highest and fastest tubing runs in Ontario. Snow Valley is open throughout the week and weekend and at $25 for a 4-hour pass you can slide down the slopes as much as you like! Take a moment to enjoy the stunning view from the top of the hill. You can see all the way to Blue Mountain! Children must be 42″ to ride the lifts, but littler ones can enjoy tubing in the Kidz Play for only $5.00.

River Valley, St. Marys – A Perth County tradition, River Valley specializes in snow tubing. Ages 4 and up can enjoy riding the new magic carpet to one of the eight snow tubing lanes. An all-day pass is available for $28.25 and evening passes can purchased at a cost of $15 per person for four hours. The Green Grill offers a full menu of delicious snacks, so you don’t have to worry about packing a lunch. They can even help you arrange special events such as birthday parties or other group activities.

Lakeridge Resort, Uxbridge – Head out this weekend for a day of sliding fun. Six tubing rides can be enjoyed for $24.50 and are open to children 4 years of age and older. Check their website for hours of operation and tubing availability before you travel.

Mount Pakenham, Pakenham – The new Tube Park is located on a gentler slope – walk up and slide down either alone or together in a small group. Rates are $10 for a day pass. A spectator area with campfire circle is available when you need a rest or warm-up. There are also over 20 kms. of snowshoe and cross-country ski trails to enjoy at Pakenham.

Calabogie Peaks, Calabogie – Friday nights and all day Saturday and Sunday you can snow tube for $10/day at Calabogie Peaks. Better yet, you can get your pass for $5 with the purchase of a lift ticket. This tubing hill also offer private bookings for groups during the weeknights for a very reasonable rate. There is just no excuse not to get out there and enjoy winter!
